Hogwarts School of Witchcraft & Wizardry is located in the highlands of Scotland, in a highly forested area alongside a very large lake. The Hogwarts Express
Every year, without fail, The Hogwarts Express - a passenger train that runs from King's Cross Station, London to Hogsmeade Station - leaves King's Cross from Platform Nine & Three Quarters at exactly 11 am, on the 1st of September. It makes the run a minimum of four times per year, often more than that as it is required. Many of the students of Hogwarts - a boarding school that houses about one thousand - use the Express to return home for their Christmas and Easter holidays. Just short of all students use it to return home at the end of the final term, in June.
Motto
The Latin: "Draco dormiens nunquam titillandus."
The English: "Never tickle a sleeping dragon."
School Song
Hogwarts, Hogwarts, Hoggy Warty Hogwarts, Teach us something, please, Whether we be old and bald Or young with scabby knees, Our heads could do with filling With some interesting stuff, For now they're bare and full of air, Dead flies and bits of fluff, So teach us things worth knowing, Bring back what we've forgot, Just do your best, we'll do the rest, And learn until our brains all rot.
Colors
Hogwarts 'school color' is black, and the uniforms of the students correspond with this by also being black. Each of the four houses has several colors attributed to it, as well.
The Forbidden Forest
Strictly off limits to all students, this forest - dark and 'brooding' to the eye - is located to the East of the castle, near the Grounds Keeper's hut. It is packed tight with trees - including beech, oak, pine, sycamore and yew - but still possible to navigate so long as you don't stray far from the paths. The forest is home to many different creatures, including - but not limited to: acromantulas, centaurs, a large three-headed dog that is highly dangerous and extremely rare to sight, thestrals, and unicorns. Trolls and werewolves have also been spotted over the centuries, but very, very rarely, and none have been seen within the last two decades (From 2098.).
